Card Condition Guide (Based on TCGplayer Standards)
The condition of a card is determined by its imperfections from play, handling, storage, or printing defects. Each card is judged on structure, playability, and authentication. Cards with integrity issues (tears, splitting, severe creases, etc.) are typically considered Damaged.
Condition | Description | Examples of Acceptable Wear |
---|---|---|
Near Mint (NM) | Almost flawless; looks fresh out of the pack with only a few minimal imperfections. | Slight edge wear, very minor surface scratches. No structural or major printing defects. |
Lightly Played (LP) | Minor wear visible but no structural issues. Still clean and presentable. | Small scuffs, light scratches, mild edge whitening. No severe or numerous flaws. |
Moderately Played (MP) | Noticeable wear with multiple imperfections but card remains intact and playable. | Surface wear, heavier edge whitening, light creases, bends, or scuffs that don’t compromise structure. |
Heavily Played (HP) | Significant wear; many imperfections but card is still authentic and stable. | Major whitening, deep scratches, heavy creasing, fading. Must still be structurally intact. |
Damaged | Severe wear or defects that impact structure, playability, or authentication. | Tears, splitting, major bends, water/food stains, ink/marker, peeling, or manufacturing defects affecting integrity. |
